Bespoke Wedding Dresses
For many, finding the ‘perfect’ outfit for your wedding day is one of the most exciting and special parts of planning a wedding. But not everyone fits into the ‘cookie cutter bride’ mould and what started as a fun experience can sometimes end up confusing and overwhelming.
Maybe you’ve started a Pinterest board and found a perfect skirt shape on one dress, flattering neckline on another and killer sleeves somewhere else, but no design that ties all elements together?
You might have exhausted all the bridal shops and tried every style going but still not found something that makes you feel like YOU. Or maybe the thought of going to a traditional bridal shop fills you with dread?
Wouldn’t it be amazing to wear something that was the exact style and shape you dream about as well as fitting you perfectly?
When you go bespoke you are in full control of your outfit from linings to decoration and you know you’re getting something that is ethically made, beautifully constructed and totally unique.
The most invaluable part of having something custom made is that you don’t have to compromise on your personal style.
Looking for a chic, 70s style bridal jumpsuit? No problem. Hand-dyed, kimono influenced, silk chiffon gown? We got you.
Anything is possible when you take control of your wedding look, and we have a passion for making it happen using beautiful, unusual fabrics and couture finishing techniques.
making the magic happen
The process will start with an informal chat to discuss your ideas and inspirations and I’ll sketch up a few designs until we have something really special. With a huge range of fabric samples at the studio, you can feel and drape them to find the perfect ones to match your design. Whether it’s Sequins or Silks, Tulles or Taffeta, I source the most beautiful textiles so you can have an outfit as individual as you are.
The next step on the bespoke journey is creating a ‘toile’ or prototype of your dress using your unique measurements so I can check the proportions and fit. This is where you will see your design come to life for the first time and is a perfect opportunity to make changes to suit your tastes and, most importantly, to swish around in it!.
Once the dress is made in the final fabrics I will keep fitting and tweaking until you are totally happy and it fits you like a second skin. The process is totally collaborative and you have a say at every step of the process so you’re in full control of your dress’s creation!
The magic of bespoke isn’t just about the outfit at the end, it’s the journey we go on together that makes it really special.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE A BESPOKE WEDDING DRESS?
Depending on the style and how much detail and embellishment is on the dress it can take anywhere from 30-100 hours to create! This is spread over several months and I suggest booking the initial consultation at least 6 months in advance, especially if your wedding is happening in the peak summer months.
Short on time?
I have been known to make wedding dresses from scratch in only 6 weeks so if you’re in a rush it’s still worth enquiring!
DO I NEED TO FIND THE FABRIC MYSELF?
I have lots of fabric sample books in my studio and a huge range of lace swatches so don’t panic about finding your own fabric. I will give detailed advice and what would work best for your design and can suggest fabrics to suit your budget. However if you have found your perfect fabric already, I’m very happy to look at that too!
HOW MANY FITTINGS WILL I HAVE TO COME TO FOR A BESPOKE DRESS?
Most dresses require 4-5 fittings with 1 of those being a ‘toile’ fitting which means fitting a prototype of your design before we cut the fabric. This checks that the unique pattern I draft using your personal measurements, fits you perfectly. It’s also an opportunity to ensure the proportions of the dress compliment your body shape by tweaking the pattern.
I’VE FOUND A DESIGN I LIKE, CAN YOU COPY IT?
Whilst I am happy to take inspiration from existing designs I would never make an exact copy of someone else’s work. If your heart is set on a particular design I can suggest ways we can modify it to make it unique to you.
HOW MUCH DOES A BESPOKE WEDDING DRESS COST?
It really depends on the design, how much detail or embellishment you would like and your preferred fabrics but prices for my bespoke bridal service starts at £1500 plus fabrics. If you have a budget in mind let me know and I can advise on what can be achieved within your price range.
CAN I TRY THINGS ON AT THE STUDIO?
WHAT ABOUT VEILS? CAN YOU MAKE ACCESSORIES?
Yes! I offer a wide range of veils, capes and accessories. These can be commissioned individually or added on later in the fitting stages when you can see the overall look of your outfit. One of my assistant seamstresses can even embroider your initials onto the veil which gives it a beautiful, personal touch.
CAN YOU ALTER MY MUM’S WEDDING DRESS TO FIT ME?
Of course! Check out my alterations page to find out more about updating an existing outfit.
